Do I really need an editor?
Yes, if you want your words to speak as clearly, concisely, and powerfully as they can.  Yes, if you want your website content to grab readers’ attention.  Yes, if you want your book to communicate your experience to readers.

Can EyeEdit help me get published?
EyeEdit cannot guarantee any manuscript’s acceptance by agents or publishers. However, we work to fix superficial errors in your work, making reading your work easier for agents or publishers, etc.  In the end, your work must stand on its own merit.

How does editing affect my copyright?
Because our editing is done on a work-for-hire basis, you retain all rights to your material.

What format should my manuscript be in?
For editing/rewriting, we prefer Microsoft Word formats. Documents in 12-point, double-spaced, Times New Roman text with 1-inch margins give the most accurate page count when we calculate fees.

What do I do if I haven’t heard back from EyeEdit after requesting an estimate or submitting work?
We typically respond to all queries via e-mail within ten business days. Whether or not we feel we are a good fit for your project, we will let you know. If you have not heard from us within ten business days you should re-send your query. E-mails do occasionally go astray, so we encourage you to follow-up with us.

Can I afford EyeEdit services?
At EyeEdit, we are cost-conscious. We offer flexible, affordable payment terms for all projects. Remember to ask for special offers and discounts available for your project!

What is the process like?
First, send a description of your project (using the Request an Estimate, Submit Work, or Contact Forms; you may also e-mail us: eyeeditonline (at) gmail dot com. We will take a look at your work, contact you and answer questions you have.

Next, we will provide a quote for the cost of the work. We may also provide a free sample edit. Once we have agreed on a price, you will receive an agreement to sign and return to us.

Then, the work will begin. It’s most common for us to work with Microsoft Word documents using the track changes feature, but PDF and hard-copy editing services are also available.

When we have completed work, you will receive at least one file showing the full markup (so that you can see all the changes that have been made).

How long does the process take?
The turnaround time depends on the project. In general, most projects can be completed in one week. Major projects have more of a case-by-case timeline. We generally require one month to evaluate book length manuscripts, theses or dissertations. If you are in a hurry, rush projects are available for an additional fee.

Will you write me book for me?
We may.  Ghostwriting is available on a case-by-case basis.

Will you write an academic article or assignment for me?
No.  Absolutely not.  We value academic honesty.

Payments FAQ

How does payment work?
We require a deposit at the time you sign and return your EyeEdit editorial agreement.  Payments may be made in installments, but the balance is due upon completion of the work.  If you pay the balance before the work is completed, you will get a lollipop.  Okay, you don’t get a lollipop, but you will get our gratitude.

What forms of payment do you accept?
EyeEdit accepts payment via PayPal, check or money order.
